2015 BEGINNER & IMPROVER GROUPS
Starts Thursday 7th May, 7pm
Meeting at DeerLeap Car Park, Longdown
This year we are planning a complete beginner group and a separate improver group.
Likely we will call you an Improver if you are already fairly comfortable covering a distance of around 3 miles at a trot even if it is slow.
Beginners will be those coming back after a long absence or those who have never tried running before, or coming back from injury who have not yet got themselves up to anywhere near a mile let alone 3.
Anyone who is safely covering 3-5 miles or more regularly or comfortably we are suggesting try the main club, and specifically some of the short speed sessions to start with.
(Check training schedule for the information) we can guide you if you are uncertain.
If we can sort people into training groups in this way we feel that everyone will get the best out of their training.
Our plan for this year is to do a specific beginner group that after a set time will advance to the improver group to help improve both distance and pace. This we hope will ensure that everyone feels comfortable to join with the main groups after that point.
We will be meeting at the DeerLeap Car Park at Longdown on Thursday 7th May at 7pm for our first session. If you can contact us beforehand to let us know you will be there we would appreciate it, and please let us know whether you are beginner or Improver.
It is on a different evening to the main club nights to begin with, as this helps with the logistics of getting coaches to support us. Our normal Club training Nights are Monday and Wednesday.
Please contact us via the facebook page or from the contact page so we have an idea of numbers.
Any questions please feel free to get in touch and keep an eye on the website and facebook page for more information as we have it.

HOW OUR BEGINNER GROUPS WORK
Taster sessions are held to let people see what we were about and how we would work.
From then on our Monday and Wednesday sessions slowly increase the interval times we run.
Each year we attract a wide range of abilities, with several who have never run before but are determined to give it a go and a few more experienced runners returning from long term injuries, for whom the gentle build back up to running fitness is a great way to keep the enthusiasm for overdoing it in check.
Before the run part of the session, we take the group through a few drills and generally start with a bit of fun before the hard work.
THERE IS NORMALLY A SET FEE FOR THE GROUP TRAINING WHICH DOES NOT INCLUDE ANY RACE ENTRY FEES, BUT DOES INCLUDE GUIDANCE AND SUPPORT FOR ALL ASPECTS OF RUNNING.
To follow on after the beginner course is complete, all are offered club membership and full access to all training and coaching sessions, plus the chance to register with UK Athletics.
For more information please contact Sue at [email protected], or via the contact pages on the website.
